MEMBERSHIP IN
THE ART LEAGUE OF NASSAU COUNTY

Our League is actively seeking new members and welcomes your interest in joining us.

Membership ​entitles an artist to:

  • The opportunity to participate in the two Member Exhibitions per year and exhibitions at the Barnes Gallery in Garden City, NY.

  • Participate in the Plein Air Painters group.

  • Exhibit artwork at the Alex Berger Gallery in the Clinton G. Martin Community Center.

  • Receive ALNC Newsletters.

  • Member discount for attendance in two yearly workshops taught by distinguished fine artists from the Metro area.

  • Discounts at local art stores and for framing at Barnes Gallery, Garden City, NY.

  • The membership year extends from April 1st to March 31st

 

 

Full Members

  • Bring three samples of his/her original work for review by the membership application panel to a demonstration meeting at the Clinton Martin Recreation Center or email 3 .jpeg images for peer review. 

  • Complete Membership Application.

  • Upon acceptance of full membership, the initial dues are $40.00. Thereafter, the yearly dues are $30.00. 

  • Juried by membership committee.

Associate Members

  • Enjoy all member benefits but cannot enter the Members’ Exhibitions.

  • No jury process is required.

  • Dues for Associates is $20.00 per year.

Howard Rose graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Graduate studies at C.W. Post & the New School.

   Since 1974, he was head product designer for a major leatherwear company in Santa Monica, California. In 1980 he started his own graphics and product design company on Long Island.

 

   In 1989, Howard saw the paintings of a western painter named John Nieto. The amazing colors and large sized paintings of American Indians caught his eye and he hasn’t looked back since. Howard has studied with Artists, Alfred Chadbourn, Charles Sovek, Matt Smith, and Ovanes Berberian.

   He had is first art studio in Roslyn New York for 18 years where he taught and specialized in landscapes. The beaches of Long Island became his favorite subjects including the dunes, waves, and sky’s found in some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

   He teaches oil painting classes in multiple venues on Long Island, including the Art League of Long Island, National Art League and runs classes at his studio in Syosset, Long Island. In addition Howard runs many varied workshops including; Color Mixing, iPhone Photography, Logical Perspective and an intensive Calligraphy & Penmanship course.

   His articles and instruction techniques have been published in various magazines, including Artists, and American Artist Magazine. He runs annual workshops in Tuscany, Paris, Venice and many locations on the east coast. His plein air workshops are located in various areas over the east coast.

   He has been featured in several Long Island galleries including: The Artists Study in Southampton, Trapani Art Gallery in Manhasset as well as galleries in Connecticut and Naples, Florida.
